Gunnar Hansen, actor, author and filmmaker. Most people know him as Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
A few years ago I visited Gunnar at his home in Maine.
He took me on a sightseeing tour/hike along the beautifull coastline. The weather seemed sub-arctic to this Southern Californian, but Gunnar hopped from cliff to wind-swept mountain top in nothing but a dress shirt while I was shivering under many layers of winter clothing. Gunnar has written eloquently about America's Atlantic Coast in his book "Islands at the Edge of Time" .

A few years ago, when I was hosting a Dutch science tv show, I had the honor of featuring Mark Pauline and his Survival Research Labs associates. Over the years, Pauline and SRL have dramatized the lives of machines as nobody else in countless violent and spectacular theatrical events all over the world. My camera crew and I got to see SRL's lovingly machined devices up close and many of them were brought to life for the camera.
